Early Years

Nursery work closely with Reception as an Early Years unit which ensures a seamless transition when children move year groups.

At Hilden Grange Nursery we believe in empowering children to be resilient independent learners.

Our newly refurbished classroom offers a natural and harmonious environment facilitating a creative curriculum enabling children to express themselves freely and explore the world around them.

In Nursery we embrace “Hygge.” Children wear slippers indoors for comfort and calmness thus supporting their emotional wellbeing and sense of belonging. We are a Nursery family first and foremost. Our Nursery parents are also involved and regularly come to read to the children or share their expertise fostering a strong partnership with staff.

We provide meaningful and dynamic spaces with authentic resources indoors and outdoors to ignite the children’s imagination and provoke communication.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework with a mix of teacher led and child initiated learning plus a variety of open ended activities for children to explore.

Nursery children also benefit from specialist teachers in Drama, Music and PE further enhancing their multi-sensory experience.

Outdoor learning and being at one with nature is vital for all children and Nursery share a bespoke outdoor learning area with Reception where they can climb the tangle logs, visit the underground Hobbit House, investigate the water pump, create a magic potion in the mud kitchen, dig for treasure in sand pit or simply enjoy their freedom with a companion. Nursery children also benefit from an adventure playground, outdoor classroom, wooden trim trail and extensive grounds for nature walks.

Nursery work closely with Reception as an Early Years unit which ensures a seamless transition when children move year groups. Children also benefit from attending Pre-Prep and Prep School assemblies and participate wholeheartedly in school life, taking part in science week, creative arts week, sports day and charity events.

There are also a variety of clubs that Nursery can enjoy after the school day and an After School Care facility until 6pm.

We offer places in the Nursery to those children who have accepted a place in our Reception Classes. Sessions are flexible, children may attend mornings or full days.

If you would like more information or would like to visit the nursery please contact the School Office on 01732 351169.
