Hilden Grange School

Pastoral, Spiritual and Charity

Pupils are at the very core of every decision we make at Hilden Grange. We take great pride in the excellent quality of our nurturing pastoral care. Our Tutor and PHSEE sessions are much valued times in the weekly timetable, and we work hard to ensure a strong sense of solidarity throughout. We recognise that every pupil is unique.

All staff, supported by the Well-being Team, ensure pupils are safe, happy, integral to the school community and able to perform to their potential. Working collaboratively with pupils, staff and parents, we build strong partnerships and maintain high expectations, ensuring concerns and anxieties are spotted and dealt with promptly.

We strive to equip pupils with the skills and tools that they will require to negotiate the vicissitudes of life. They will learn these skills in all our classrooms; if necessary we can support them in a personalised 1:1 Well-being Coaching session. As children’s mental health remains in the spotlight, we very much encourage our children to talk positively about physical, emotional and mental well-being across all age groups and support them as individuals whenever they need us.

Each year, the pupils show great enthusiasm and initiative in raising thousands of pounds for carefully-selected charities.  In the past these have included Kent Air Ambulance, Demelza House, The Royal Marsden Campaign, UNICEF Water Aid, RNLI, War Child, Coram and the NSPCC to name but a few.

Assemblies cover a range of topics, with invited speakers.  We have an annual carol service, held at Tonbridge Parish Church.
