Music Festivals

It has been a really busy few weeks in the Music Department with music festivals and our own internal Music Competition.

A number of our pupils performed at the recent Tunbridge Wells Arts Festival earlier this month and enjoyed great success. For some of our singers it was the first festival they have ever sung in, and for others it has been at least two years since they performed out of a school environment. We were very proud of all of the children who took part.

There were first and second places in a number of the individual singing classes as well as a second place in the Advanced Woodwind Class (coming second to a much older and more experienced student) with a stunning performance that gained an invite to perform at the Festival Prizegiving Concert. Our Boys Singing Group, G5, gained a distinction in the Junior Choir Class and were also invited to perform at the concert, along with two Year 6 girls who won the Duet Class, and a Year 8 pupil following his outstanding performance in the Junior Vocal Recital.

The Hastings Festival is underway at the moment. Many of our singers took part last week, building on their success at Tunbridge Wells and our instrumentalists are performing this week. Congratulations (and good luck!) to all the children participating in the festivals. It takes a great amount of hard work to achieve these high standards and it is a very rewarding experience for them, not only in the performance itself, but also to hear the feedback from the adjudicators.
