Mathematical Triumphs

Hilden Grange pupils have enjoyed success in two recent maths competitions.

A team of Year 6 pupils won first place at the Somerhill Maths race during an exciting contest which ended in a tie-break.  They retained the trophy won last year.   A Year 5 team also performed well, coming third, just two questions behind the winning team.

Pupils from Years 5 and 6 participated in the Primary Maths Challenge organised by the Mathematical Association.  In the first round, Hilden Grange pupils did very well, winning six gold, eight silver and 15 bronze awards.  Two pupils were invited back to participate in the final round, winning a bronze and a silver medal.  This places them in the top 400 pupils in the UK; an outstanding achievement.
