Lord Stoneham visits Hilden Grange
On Tuesday 22nd May, Lord Stoneham of Droxford spoke to Year 7 and 8 pupils about the history and processes of Parliament as part of a programme, ‘Peers in Schools’, designed to interest youngsters in democracy. Lord Stoneham spoke for about 30 minutes and gave a lot of background information about how Parliament works. He then took questions on a wide range of subjects such as what he thought about the Greek crisis, how did he become a peer and why did he switch from Labour to the Liberal Democrats. The pupils had clearly done their research and gained much from a very interesting and informative morning. A visit to the Houses of Parliament is planned for the forthcoming academic year.
