Hilden Grange on top of the world!

A flag depicting the logos of Hilden Grange and Tonbridge School was placed at the summit of Mount Everest by David Tait at 5.50am on May 20th, climbing on behalf of the NSPCC and child’s i foundation. David and his team wore survival wristbands made by two brothers, one a pupil at Tonbridge School, and the other a pupil at Hilden Grange.
The fundraising survival wrist bands were made to raise money for HOPEHIV, a charity supported by Tonbridge School through their Social Entrepreneurs Project. The two brothers developed the wristbands themselves and came up with an apt name for the project, the Band of Brothers. Devising the wristbands was not a straightforward process. In addition to being as colourful as a friendship bracelet, the bands also had to be immensely strong and more versatile. Paracord, a material used by the US Military, was chosen and the boys developed an innovative design to weave the cord into the survival bracelet.
The bands proved extremely popular, with sales to match, raising over £3000 for HOPEHIV. This is an amazing achievement in itself, topped only by the bands' journey to the top of the world as a lucky charm for David Tait on his fourth successful mission to the summit of Mount Everest.
