Pre-Prep

Pre-PrepIn the Pre-Prep we provide a friendly, nurturing environment that stimulates learning, builds confidence and encourages creativity.  Above all, we provide a firm foundation for the next stage, in the Prep School.

A Life in the Day

To gain a real insight into life at the Pre-Prep, read about a typical life in the day of a Reception pupil.

Learning is fun!

Trip to Tonbridge Castle

Learning in the Pre-Prep is stimulating and exciting.  Pre-Prep children follow the Foundation Stage (Nursery and Reception) and Key Stage 1 of the National Curriculum (Years 1 and 2).  They are introduced to subjects, such as French, Geography and R.E. at this early stage.  ICT is on the curriculum from Nursery, and the Pre-Prep children make great use of the school’s dedicated computer suite.

Creative Arts

Creative Arts are particularly important in the Pre-Prep, and the children enjoy specialist teachers for Music and Drama.  Many children start individual instrument lessons at this stage, and the annual Summer Concert is a wonderful way to celebrate their musical achievements.  The annual nativity play is another highlight in the school year, and this year’s production of 'It's a Baby!' was a real treat for parents.

Visits, Visitors and Events

A full and varied programme of visits, visitors and events enhances the curriculum and develops the children’s knowledge in a very enjoyable way. Children enjoy theatre trips, and outings to a variety of local attractions such as Tonbridge Castle, Tudeley Church and Whitstable beach.  Pre-Prep children participate whole-heartedly in the life of the school, and take part in annual events such as Science Week, Book Week and Creative Arts Week.

Recreation

Swimming lesson

Pre-Prep children enjoy playing in their own field, with an enclosed wooden adventure playground, and also have access to the extensive grounds, swimming pool and hall. PE lessons are taken by a specialist teacher, and the children relish the chance to demonstrate their skills at the annual Pre-Prep Sports Day.

Clubs and Activities

Children in the Pre-Prep enjoy participating in a wide range of clubs.  These include Girls' Games and Recorders, Craft and ICT, Hama Beads, Sewing and French to name just a few.  Click through to the Pre-Prep Clubs and Activities page for more information.
