Learning is fun in the Nursery

The Nursery provides a happy, caring, safe environment where the children enjoy learning.  Teaching and activities in the Nursery are fun and varied, and designed to meet the “Early Learning Goals” which include the following:

• Communication, Language and Literacy
• Personal, Social and Emotional Development
• Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy
• Knowledge and Understanding of the World
• Physical Development
• Creative Development

 Children enjoy a huge range of activities, from ICT and gardening, to cookery and arts & crafts.  They also benefit from specialist teachers in music, drama and PE.  Nursery children participate wholeheartedly in the life of the school, taking part in events such as Science Week, Sports Day and charity activities.

The nursery has its own enclosed playground, and nursery children also enjoy access to the wooden adventure playground, extensive grounds, hall and other areas.

Nursery education provides children with a firm foundation for learning.   Close liaison with the Reception staff helps to ensure that the transition to the Pre-Prep is as smooth as possible for our children.

The latest Ofsted report states that "the provision plans and provides a very good range of experiences to ensure children’s emotional, physical, social and intellectual capabilities are well promoted.”  Read the full report here.

The nursery is open to all children - it is not necessary to have a place in Reception in order to join.  Sessions are flexibile - children may join for mornings or full days.
